Making work feels like a necessity for me. I want it to be naive, funny and attainable while also being quite serious and with existential connotations. It has to be everything in a sense.
Throughout the process of making, I develop what I find interesting and use the physicality of manipulating things, mere material, to become something both comical and spiritual.
I sail out with the direction and potential outcome of my work but add elements that bring it back to the reality of the world. A direct reference, lift, material or physicality that grounds the abstract existence of the image and the narratives within.
I’m exploring the actuality of the material that I use as paint, with an eternal yearning from within the impossibility of fiction.
